X-Ray of Screw Irritation

The risks of surgery are minimised by utilising a system of screening and investigations. These include a detailed medical and surgical history, tests and investigations may be needed such as X-rays, ultrasound scans, blood tests, urinalysis, circulatory assessment and blood pressure measurement. If any of these investigations raises concerns then medical opinion may be sought and your operation may be deferred.

Complications of Podiatric Surgery:-

  • Prolonged swelling

  • Thick or sensitive scarring

  • Loosening or irritation of screws or wires

  • Infection

  • Delayed healing

  • Deep Vein Thrombosis

  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome

THESE COMPLICATIONS ARE RARE and can usually be managed without permanent disability or pain. Complications specific to your operation will be discussed with you at consultation.
