Podiatric surgery is a specialized form of foot surgery performed by a Podiatric Surgeon.

Podiatric surgery was developed in the USA in order to improve on existing methods of surgery which tended to have poor outcomes and meant patients having to stay off their feet for several weeks after surgery.

The vast majority of Podiatric Surgery is performed using regional local Anaesthesia and is undertaken on a day case basis, with patients going home on the day of the operation.
